What are your thoughts on the dinosaur. How about limited evolution, ie development of species. Should we teach evolution in Christian schools. Any other thoughts on creation vs evolution.

It's interesting that there are two votes for "4004 bc". How about the dinosaures? Respected Christian sciencests believe the earth is much older than 4000 years. Check out www.pb.org/science.html. That is the web site for Institute for Creation Research. PS How about two age old questions: 1. Where did Cain get his wife? 2. Did Adam have a belly button?

Hello Folks,
Austrailian apologist Ken Hamm, has a neat little book/phamlet available at most Christian book stores or Christianbooks.com (Christian Book Distributers) that addresses the question of dinasaurs and creation. If I can remember correctly his first point is that dinasaurs were created at the same time everythings else was. You see, before the Fall, there was no death. So they did't die before the fall. Second, there is a serious error in dating. With carbon dating, you see any dating that is returned younger than what the scientest believe is dismissed as an error. Then to make matters worse things that are made recently like steel objects that return very old dates are also dismissed as a obvious error. So, scientest tend to have both ends open for their notions of correct dating. The problem with 'thestic evolution' is to carry it forward one must accept that God started man with a smart monkey. The Book says that He started with dust and breathed life into Adam. There can be not compromise with the biblical facts and scientific facts, even with good intentions.
I believe God created things so we could't come up with alternative arguments without getting hit in the back of the head with another scripture verse. Like do I really believe that the Israelites walked across the water. Those that want to compromise say with was the 'reed' sea and only a foot deep. So did all those Egyptians die in a foot of water? God has fixed some things so we can't compromise what He said.
Agree?
God Bless, Ron

Hi Jethro45
John Hagee, of Cornerstone Church, San Antonio, Texas (Johnhagee.com) or johnhagee.org) has put out a lot of material on that 'gap' theory. He see's two creations of earth as the center piece of the theory. I guess I just have limited vision and am amazed at what people can add between the lines of Scripture. Although, I have often wondered how the earth could be the earth and 'null and void and without shape' at the same time. This theory is curious is it not?
Well, I have depleated my knowledge of the subject. Are you more acquanted with it?
From Oregon, Ron

Ron: your knowledge is behond mine on this one. But i do agree with you some of the thoughts on this issue are interesting, but it takes a good imagination to put all that is placed between those two verses. God bless

Good evening everyone,
I am curious that no one has mentioned the day/age theory of creation. Some feel that the Lord took a 7,000 years to create earth and the universe (a day is like thousand years with the Lord (Pardon the poor paraphrase) (forgive me I cannot remember the verse even though it is found in I Peter). I do believe that the verse was taken out of context.
Would someone please help me with the word "replenish". That comes from the KJV. I do not know what word is used in the other translations of the Scripture.
BTW, I did have the chance to hear Dr. Morris and Dr. Ham at a Cretionism seminar while I was in Seminary.
Take care.
Rev. C

The "thousand year" passages are found in Psalm 90:4 and 2 Peter 3:8.

The big problem with the gap theory is that it is an argument from silence. There is nothing to support such a theory (i guess that is why it is a theory ;D) in scripture. Arguments from silence make for horrible theology, not to mention doctrine. Do the exegesis! ;D

On the poll, if you vote for another time span other that the 4004 BC, does that rule you out of a 24/7 creation mode? There is too much left open in that poll.

For my part, while an interesting diversion, the questions suggested by modern science about our origins are, more often than not, a distraction from more important concerns. The issues raised by scientific evidence that seemingly contradicts a 24/7 creation were not known to Moses and the children of Israel. They are entirely alien to his purpose. No one’s eternal fate ever rested on their dating the age of the earth correctly. Theology, not science, was the pressing issue of the day. It is evident from the history of Israel that idolatry was its greatest threat. The nation was surrounded by idolaters worshipping limited, territorial gods-practically anything in creation-and ignoring the Creator (cf. Ex.5-14; Rom.1). The Genesis account was to teach Israel, and the Gentile nations, that Yahweh was the one, true, and living God, and that these other things worshipped by idolaters were His creation, not themselves gods to be feared or served. He created all these things, and He rules over all. The import of this theme is reflected plainly in the first and second commandments, Israel’s chronic disobedience of which (in spite of God’s many warnings) brought on the exile in 722/587 BC. The unifying force of this theme throughout the OT (indeed, the NT as well) is a strong defense against critics of the Bible’s Divine origins. Likewise, the repetitive use of the number seven by Moses (words in verse one, days, fulfillments, approvals) corresponds to the symbolic use (perfection and completeness) of numbers in other ANE texts, and thereby provides weighty evidence for the antiquity of Genesis. The truth of God’s Word is unassailable and beyond the reach of science. These arguments (among others) disarm critics who seek to use it to undermine the authority of Scripture. Christ and Him crucified is its fulfillment, and the salvation of souls, not the satisfaction of men’s curiosity, is its aim.

ILL THROW MY TWO CONSERVATIVE CENTS IN HERE.EITHER THE BIBLE IS RIGHT AND SCIENTIST ARE WRONG OR SCIENTISTS ARE RIGHT AND GOD IS WRONG.THINK ILL GO WITH GOD A DAY IS A DAY AND THAT MEANS HE CREATED IT IN 6/24HR DAYS AND ON THE 7TH HE RESTED. SCIENTIST THEMSELVES ADMIT CARBON DATING IS FLAWED AND 1 MORE THING THE FLOOD IS WHAT CAUSED DRAMATIC CHANGES IN THE EARTH NOT MILLIONS AND BILLIONS OF YEARS AS SCIENTISTS WOULD HAVE PEOPLE BELIEVE. AS WITH EVERYTHING ELSE ITS A MATTER OF FAITH.CAN YOU ABSOLUTELY PROVE IN A COURT OF LAW TO MANS SATISFACTION JESUS IS THE SON OF GOD AND SAVIOUR. NO,YOU CAN PRESENT SOME EVIDENCE BUT YOU ACCEPT BY FAITH HIM WHO HOLDS YOUR ETERNITY IN HIS HANDS AND THEN QUESTION AND DOUBT ALMIGHTY GODS ABILITY TO CREATE EVERYTHING IN 6 DAYS.MY GUESS IS THE LORD COULD HAVE DONE IT IN ONE HAD HE CHOSEN TO.....BUT THEN WED REALLY HAVE DOUBTERS THEN.
