Once saved, always saved!
Dinnae take this wrong brothers, but I think that this statement is the biggest bunch of hooey I have ever been unfortunate enough tae have tae hear.
It gives every apathetic, unregenerate church member (nonattending of course) who ever walked the aisle at a young age and shook the preachers hand and got baptized, the idea that they are saved and can do whatever they want to because they now have the ultimate fire insurance.
"PURE UNADULTERATED MULARKEY!!!"
I believe in the security of the saints. I know that my salvation is a done deal in the Lord's hands. I know that my Redeemer liveth, and when He says I am saved, that is past tense. Not future.
Ephesians 2:8 and 9 state categorically and specifically
For it is by grace that you are saved and that not of yourselves. It is the gift of God. Not of works lest any man should boast. Past tense. :)Praise God!
But the key word is indeed saved. Ye must be saved in the first place.
Romans 10:9 and 10 are crucial verses in the Romans Road to Salvation.
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus Christ, and believe with thine heart that God has raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Again the key word is saved. You must be saved first.
But there is another vital word in this verse, "confess".
We must confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord!
this is not an idle statement acknowledging that Jesus is Lord, blah blah blah. This is a vital life altering, everyday from now on acknowledging that we have given our lives into God's hands to rule from now on into eternity.
Paul said "I am a slave for Christ's sake." and again "I am a bondservant to Jesus Christ." Paul knew very well what he was saying. He was clarifying the position that Christians are to have in reference to their new life in Christ Jesus.
A servants will is not his own, but is to serve their Masters will. His desire is no longer his own but his Masters.
I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live, yet not I but Christ in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of God who loved me and gave Himself for me. Amen.
Salvation is not a license to sin, but from sin. Romans 7
Come on brothers, let me hear from you.
