Captain, Welcome aboard!! You have shared some interesting points with us. You mentioned the glory of so many different groups working together. However, I would like you to answer the question from the orginial post. If you had counseled someone at the crusade that was from a very liberal group, say one that downplays the blood of Christ, would you encourage that person to continue in that denomanation, or would you encourge him to start attending a bible beliving church. You also asked about the 2206 folks who came forward. Did some come just to see Dr Graham a bit closer, did they come so they would not be seperated from their friends, ect. Yes, I believe many came forward for salvation, but... If I may, just a bit background of myself. I was brought up in a Baptist church. thought not fromally taught, I assumed you had to be a Baptist to be saved. When I was stationed in Germany in the US Army, I attended the Air Force chapel. I was blessed to sit under a Bible Believing Methodist. A chaplain who actually gave invitations at the end of his messges! Yes, that too was a little like heaven! Our number one goal is to present Jesus Christ to a lost and dying world. Our number two goal is to encourge new (and old) Christians to become involved in a Bible believing church where we may grow, fellowship, and minister.

Ron: I understood the question and the answer of what it takes to be saved, just didnt understand your point. The topic here was not what it takes to be saved but rather should SBaptist assoicate with others of totally different beliefs. Yes there i am sure some RC that are saved, but through ignorance remain in the RC "church", there r some who have gotten saved and now attend baptist churches, but will not get baptised because of the indoctrination they have received in the early years of their lives. Yes they r saved, by grace through faith in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, but should a SB church have joint services with churches preaching false doctrine, cant even imagine this question having to be asked. There is no discussion the Bible is very clear on this matter. Come out from among them and be ye seperate!!! This does not mean we r to hate the RC folk, but we are to hate false teaching and to have no fellowship with the false teacher or the organization they represent.

So, Ministers who have worked very hard for unity in Christ like Billy Graham, C.S. Lewis, Oswald Chambers , etc., are sinners because they saw and worked for unity? I believe there are Romans who are saved. I also believe they are very far from living an abundant Christian life. I also accept the notion that they are doing some pretty foolish things and do not follow Scripture, thats why I am not a Roman.
As an experiment talk to a Roman preist who you might respect in your town. You might find you have many points of agreement. Just like there are Lutherens, Episcapalians, and Orthodox who believe one must be saved by accepting and confessing Christ. We say it is the entry point into Christ. They say it is confessed at 'conformation'. I believe one can see points of agreement if one puts down the age old arguments and stop seeing those that disagree with me as the enemy.
I know what I am asking you might be a hard thing. That we may disagree here. Does that make me sinful because we disagree on this point? But agree on the central truths of Scripture? By the way, did you know that there are now 'Chrismatic' 'Spirit filled' 'Speaking in toungs Roman congregations? Talk about being odd.
God Bless, Ron

Ron: didnt say u or anyone else is a sinner because of your views, we are all sinners, i just disagree with your views. Yes many folk in other, (use the word religion for the lack of anything else) but being saved aint the topic here, or being a sinner aint the topic. I personally disagree with folk like Billy Graham in there liberal associations, i dont judge Bro Graham, i praise God for him and others like him but not because of their associations with liberal, cold dead religions, but for the fact they preach the gospel, and many have been saved through their ministries. To often the associations with cults like RC etc. gives people the idea that you r putting your stamp of approval on these cults. They preach false doctrine, and we are to identify those who do and mark them not join them in joint vacation bible schools, pulpit swaping etc. Bro you gota do what u believe the Holy Spirit of God is leading you to do, but does the Holy Spirit of God lead us to do contray to the Word of God??? i dont think so. If u do then by all means follow the Lord.

MY ONLY RESPONSE TO SEPARATION IS HOW CAN TWO WALK TOGETHER EXCEPT THEY BE AGREED.DO YOU SEND A PLUMBER AND ELECTRICIAN BOTH TO WIRE A HOUSE FOR POWER.NO.HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH LOVE OR UNITY BUT WITH FAITH.CATHOLIC,MUSLIM,MORMON JEHOVAH WITNESSES ALL HAVE THEIR OWN BELIEFS ON SALVATION AND ALL CONTRADICT THE BIBLE WHY WOULD ANYONE WHO TRULY STANDS FOR TRUTH AND GOD'S WORD BE HAVING A JOINT SERVICE OR FELLOWSHIP WITH THOSE OF OPPOSING BELIEFS. LOVE THEM YES,WITNESS TO THEM YES,FRIENDLY TO THEM YES,PUT YOUR STAMP OF APPROVAL ON THEIR DOCTRINES NO!!!!!!!AND IF YOUR HOLDING JOINT SERVICES WITH THEM THAT IS WHAT YOU ARE DOING. SOMEHOW I WONDER WHAT THE CHURCH FATHERS WOULD SAY TO US IF THEY WERE HERE.I THINK THEY WOULD BE JUST LIKE OUR NATIONS FOUNDING FATHERS TURNING OVER IN THEIR GRAVE AT THE THOUGHT OF WHAT CHURCH HAS BECOME. LIBERAL,NO STANDARDS,FULL OF COMPROMISE RUN RAMPANT IN OUR CHURCHES ALL IN THE NAME OF "UNITY".THIS I THINK MAKES GOD SICK.IF WE WONT STAND FOR THE FAITH WHO WILL?

saltcitybaptist, The website you found is pretty good. It is great to know that thier is another Communcation Network for Pastors. Also, I would like to say I am sorry for not responding to our earlier discussion. you have a point it is one thing to be saved and another to see that the new believer is brought in to a Christ centered, Bible Teaching Church where they can learn and Grow with other Believers, to Mature in GODS HOLY WORD. May the Gospel of JESUS CHRIST be PREACHED and Taught to a lost and dying world. GOD BLESS YOU!! and may the LORD have all the GLORY in our Ministry of HIS WORD. AMEN!!! Captain.

As a jail chaplain I have discovered several loose knit facts about fraternizing with other denominations. 1. Many times they are wonderful people and truely love the Lord 2. Often they are sincere in there thoughts and actions. 3. They really are convinced THEY have the correct theology. 4. They're not really trying to pull the lost to their church only to the son of man... 5. The biggest and yet the saddest thing about them is they really deny the inerrancy of the scripture.
So what do I do about them; on a daily basis I find it is much better to pray for them than to condem them.
