Just saw an article yesterday about churches accepting credit cards. Do you think your church should accept credit cards? What would you do as pastor if one of the members suggested it?

Amen Brother! Accept and praise the Lord for their correct use. What better way to keep track of deductable expenses. It's only when they become abused that the problem occurs. Duke

Actually, I am not too fond of using credit cards for giving to the church. Should the payment to the card company not be made, then the member is paying interest. Intrest on your tithe and offerings. As far as keeping records, a checkbook has just done fine for me for years. I would need a lot of convincing before I would recommend credit cards at church. Whats next, buy an old McDonalds bldg, so you can have drive thru blessing! ;D

I do not believe that a credit card should be used to give towards offerings or tithes of any sort. I also agree to saltcitybaptist that a church should run on paying bills by check. It could lead to abuse by church leaders if not monitored closely. Interest on credit cards enough without the church being indebted to creditors especially banks. Captian

Children, children fight nice now I believe the point of the question was whether we should allow parishoners to pay their tithes and/or offerings by credit card. God doesn't care how they are paid, why should we. He is more concerned with the act of obedience than the amount or the way it is performed. Let's not get stuck on legalities and technicalities. Are we Christian Pastors or Pharisees?

Another point to consider whether a chuch should accept credit cards. A business (church) must pay a basic fee to be authortise to accept cards. In addition, a % of each transaction goes to the credit card company. I feel that this money can be used in better ways. ;D Does anybody have a good reason that would overide my comments. I'm listening.
