Ouch!!! Ye are right of course about the civil war and the Rapture of God's Church, but dead baptists? Well maybe, but remember the Baptists are at this time one of the few denominations that have not succumbed wholly to liberalism. The Baptists have long been in the forefront of the battle against liberals who would subvert God's Word and message. We have our problems as any other denomination, but have for the most part held true to the faith and His Word. One of our problems in the SBC is that we have been sidetracked by the liberal issues and have not been as faithful to our primary purpose in this time and place, to evangelize and train disciples. I have always maintained that there just isn't enough time to be playing church games anymore! Whether the Lord returns in the next 5 years or we stay here on earth long enough to die of old age, there still isn't enough time to do the Lord's work we are called to do! So let's get busy about our Father's business! Can I get an "Amen" out there?

Enoch, You state that Baptist are in the forefront of staying true to Gods word. But who are those Baptist? For the most part they are the leaders of our convention. What about the typical laymen in the church. Say we took ten doctrines. For exemple, Baptism, communium, eternal security, Trinity, Rapture, Holy Spirit, Spiritual Gifts, the Incarnation of Christ, and mans two natures. How many of our Baptists could "hold their own" when talking to someone with a different opinion. though I have no stats, I would venture that 75% of our members, could not defend their faith of 25% of the doctrines I listed. The question I ask is whose fault is it? This is why we need Shilo to stay with us, he keeps us on our toes. We are fighting the good fight together. Therefore, I do not retract my statment that most Baptist will be first in the rapture

The fault would fall squarely upon the shoulders of those Pastors who fail to teach their people. I include myself in those ranks. We errantly expect our people to know those fundamentals, because they are so elemental to us. But I would daresay that the same is true throughout all denominations. How many laypersons in any denomination, other than cults that require such information for their people's salvation, could hold their own? This is why such cults are able to come in and lead captive women astray, because we Pastors are dropping the ball. I do not wish to use this thread as a means of defending the Baptists, we have enough of our own faults, but I would have to say overall, that as far as Church government and doctrine, we are as Baptists closer than some others to the First Century Church. Now if we could only reignite their fire under our "mossy behinds" we might be able to turn our world around as did those first twelve disciples. I agree about Shiloh, we didn't always see eye to eye , especially about other denomination Christians, but I shall miss his input. I hope to hear more from your own viewpoints as well, brother.

This topic really gets heated at times and causes quite a bit of anger among churches and members. I still believe that the BF&M summed it up well when it said something to the effect of: In God’s own time and according to His will, He will bring about the end of time in the way that pleases Him. This saves me from messing things up! Yeah, buddy!! ;D

I know we are talking about Good News here! JESUS CHRIST is coming back again as HE has promised and the HOLY BIBLE is the only ABSOLUTE TRUTH there is out there in today's society. The Rapture is literal and according to PAUL in THESS. We will be caught up in the clouds to meet JESUS in the air. AMEN!!!

We certainly are in the last days. Just watch the nations line up. How do you feel about the 10 toes in Daniel 2. Are they the European Union? Are they a 10 nation Middle East Union? Ezekiel 38. Did you know Turkey has been denied entrance into the European Union. Wonder why they will not be with them in the upcoming battle (Ezekiel 38). Do you think I speculate too much? ? Bud Davis
